My concentration centers around something I'm very passionate about, theatre. WIth each piece, you can get a sneak peek behind the curtain. Comprising of portraits and unique compositions I will provide a new perspective of the dramatic arts.
I was in the fortunate position of constantly being surrounded by inspiration for new pieces. To be able to combine my talents into one cohesive project is a blessing in itself.
My strengths lay in black and white, but this year I've pushed myself to incorporate more color into my pieces. In the past I was never really a painter, but I've strayed away from my old prejudices and finally picked up a paintbrush.
There is an interesting contrast between theatre and art that I've neglected to notice. In theatre, you go through a long rehearsal process, but then it ends the moment the audience applauds. Then there is a new show, with different people, different objectives and it all starts over. But for art, you never really stop, there is only improving. Each new piece is a step toward a new direction, never going backwards or stopping.
This experience is very sentimental to me because my last high school play is over, but the curtains will never close on my art. I'm constantly striving to improve my craft and am always grateful for the opportunity to do so. Never stop. Never quit. Never settle.
